Job-driven tourism development would be the priority for the newly appointed union Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay.
“I have a plan for the people staying in remote places. To identify tourist spots, develop them and involve the locals to eke out their livelihood,” he told reporters when asked what plans he had for Jharkhand in his new assignment.
Sahay got the new assignment after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reshuffled his cabinet on Thursday.
“Though migration has been one of the serious problems plaguing Jharkhand for the last ten years, successive governments failed in solving the problem.
“My priority will be to develop tourist spots, keeping maximum job opportunities that can help prevent migration to some extent,” he said.
Sahay said Jharkhand has the potential to be in the map of world tourism.
“Famous temples like Parasnath,Baidyanath Dham,Rajrappa and Deuri could have been developed into beautiful spots. Efforts will be to beautify these places to attract more tourists,” he added.
