Tiger Woods issued a statement thanking his staff and fans on Sunday even as Fox Newss website reported that the number of women to have allegedly had affairs with the golfer had gone up to nine.

Woods,absent from his annual Chevron World Challenge amid a storm of scandal,issued a statement thanking staff,fans and sponsors for keeping the charity event afloat.

He thanked the foundation staff and volunteers. I am so grateful to them for their efforts,and I am sincerely sorry I was unable to fulfill my duties as host and player in this important event, Woods said in a statement posted on his website on Sunday.

Lastly,Id like to thank our fans for continuing to support us, Woods said. Like them,I am extremely dedicated to this tournament,to my foundation and the millions of young lives we serve. Thank you all for your support.

Woods latest website statement made no mention of the circumstances surrounding his withdrawal from the event.

Fresh accusations

The story,though,refuses to die down,with fresh accusations surfacing over the weekend.

Less than two weeks after the crash,as many as nine women have come forward to admit alleged affairs with the golf legend.

On Sunday,the New York Daily News came up with yet another alleged mistress,31-year-old divorced mom Cori Rist. According to them,the two met at New York Club Butter last year.

The Sun reported that there were strong rumours of a dalliance with an eighth woman,Holly Samson,a porn star from Los Angeles.

A 26-year-old former cocktail waitress from Orlando was next,reportedly bragging about an alleged two-year affair with Woods before and during his marriage. According to the New York Post,the waitress has hired Florida lawyer Michael OQuinn. OQuinn has reportedly said that his client did not want to be identified yet in light of her corporate job.

 Rachel Uchitel: The club hostess was the first of the women to be linked to Woods after the National Enquirer reported that she travelled to Australia with Woods for a golf tournament.

 Jamie Grubbs: The 24-year-old reality show contestant and cocktail waitress claims she carried on a 31-month-long affair with Woods.

 Kalika Moquin: The 27-year-old club manager from Las Vegas is said to have had a brief sexual relationship with Woods.

 Cori Rist: The 31-year-old swimsuit model reportedly met Woods at a Manhattan club last year before they began a relationship that led to Woods flying her out to various secret locations.

 Jamie Jungers: The 26-year-old,who sold her story to a British newspaper,is a former employee of Trashy Girls Lingerie,according to the New York Post.

 Mindy Lawton: A 33-year-old pancake house waitress from Orlando claims she was dumped by Woods in 2007. According to the Post,it was her affair with Woods that was caught on camera by the National Enquirer.

 Number 7: An unidentified former cocktail waitress from Orlando,who does want to reveal her identity yet,according to attorney Michael OQuinn. At the time the affair allegedly began,she met Woods at the Roxy in Orlando,where she was a VIP server.

 Holly Sampson: The 36-year-old from Los Angeles is a former porn star. According to The Sun,she has not spoken about an affair with Woods.

 Number 9: Unidentified so far,she is said to be a British TV presenter who was single at the time but is now married.
