Shares of tyre manufacturers,led by Ceat,surged by up to 17 per cent on BSE after a fall in natural rubber prices.
Shares of Ceat advanced by 16.39 per cent to settle at Rs 110.80 on BSE,while JK Tyre and Industries gained 6.96 per cent to close at Rs 101.45.
MRF rose by 3.98 per cent,while Apollo Tyres went up by 2.95 per cent.
Natural rubber prices fell by Rs 6 to hit a nearly three month low of Rs 210 per kg in line with the fall in prices in the global markets.
Prices of rubber constitutes 40 per cent of the tyre production cost.
Meanwhile,the BSE benchmark index Sensex finished at 18,492.45 points,up 80.04 points.
