Shiv Ahuja took up the camera so that he could enter gigs for free. The camera also helped him get up,close and personal with the bands. Today, the 20-year-old has put up an exhibition, documenting the live acts of the Capital’s rock music scene,in black and white. “In the beginning,it was just about being at a gig, jiving with the crowd. But one gig led to another and then another and soon I was shooting them full-time,” says Ahuja, whose exhibition “Rock and Roll Photography” is on at The Living Room Café at Hauz Khas.

In between attending classes at Kirori Mal College, the economics undergraduate also plays for two city bands,Five8 and Jester. “For me,this is as much about music as it is about photography. I want people to hear some of the independent rock music in the country and support it,” says Ahuja, whose lens has captured bands such as Parikrama,Indian Ocean,Junkyard Groove,Advaita and The Raghu Dixit Project.

The show is on till January 31 (EFS)
