Rajesh Khanna was a heartthrob of 3 generations: Maha Guv

Khanna will forever be remembered as one who ushered in an era of romanticism in film industry.

Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan has expressed grief over the demise of the first superstar of the Hindi film industry,Rajesh Khanna.

In his condolence message,the Governor said,“Rajesh Khanna was a heartthrob of three generations who scaled unprecedented heights of popularity during his remarkable career.

“He infused life into each of the roles that he portrayed with great aplomb. Indeed Rajesh Khanna was a superstar during the golden era of Hindi films,and will remain so in the hearts of his innumerable fans,” he said.

“I join millions of his admirers in paying my respects to this great actor and great human being,” he said.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said Khanna entertained film buffs with his talent and would be remembered for his contribution to the film industry.

PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said,“An era has ended with Rajesh Khanna’s demise. In the 60s and 70s,Khanna reigned supreme over the Indian,specially Hindi film industry.”

His popularity among young women was the stuff of many an anecdote during the period,he said.

Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde said Rajesh Khanna was his hero in college days. “Not only me but my entire generation was crazy about his style,acting and even his kurta,” Munde said.

“I had seen all his films on the first day of their release. His presence on the screen,his romance has made solid impact on the audience,” Munde said.

Khanna was like a magician who enchanted the movie buffs,the BJP leader said.

RPI leader Ramdas Athawale said an era has ended with the passing away of Khanna.

The 69-year-old Bollywood actor,who was ailing for some time now,passed away at his residence.
