HOURS after the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declared the results on Thursday, the son of a city based ex-BJP councillor committed suicide.
Aditya Yadav (18) scored 48 per cent in the exam. The police said the incident occurred between 4 and 4.30 pm,when he was alone at home. His mother and sister had gone out to attend a marriage, and his father, former Harni councillor Pandu Yadav, was also not at home. Incidentally,Pandu had appeared for his SSC exams this year.
The police said Aditya hanged himself. The family rushed him to the hospital when they reached home where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Pandu said: He was upset with his marks and I had told the family members not to scold him on this. I also told him that we will try for the payment seats in Vidynagar or elsewhere since he did not get through the BBA entrance exam. He added: I was not at home and when my family members called me I thought Aditya must have received an electric shock. It was only when I reached home that I realised the situation.
The residence at Sangam crossroads was filled
with Adityas friends who rushed there on learning about the incident.
Pinkesh Mehta,Adityas friend from the tuition class, said: He was not the one to take such an extreme step. I am shocked as I had a talk with him in the morning and he seemed very calm at that time. His only aim was to pursue BBA and he was very upset that he had failed to clear the BBA entrance exam.
Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector A H Vasava said: We are investigating the reason behind the death. He had used a rope to hang himself.
