Its hard to keep a good man down,even after bankruptcy. British secret agent James Bond,007,is set to return to movie theaters for a 23rd version of the long-running and lucrative film franchise,its makers at EON Productions and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film studio said.
The announcement follows MGMs emergence from bankruptcy in December,which had forestalled putting a new Bond movie into production. MGM and EON said Daniel Craig will return in the role of the suave spy when Bond blasts back into theatres in November,2012 50 years after 1962s original Dr No. Production is set to begin in late 2011 with Oscar-winning director,Sam Mendes (American Beauty) behind the camera.
The movies title and details of the story were not unveiled.
Jodie Foster to preside over Frances Cesar Awards
Jodie Foster will add American flavour to Frances version of the Oscars when the Academy Award-winning actress presides over the 36th annual Cesar Awards ceremony on February 25,organisers confirmed. Foster,who was raised partly in France and speaks perfect French,will be filming Roman Polanskis God Of Carnage in the country as of early February so she wont have to travel far for the ceremony.
No stranger to French cinema,Foster boasts roles in Eric Le Hungs 1977 film Moi,Fleur Bleue,Claude Chabrols The Blood Of Others in 1984 and Jean-Pierre Jeunets A Very Long Engagement in 2004. Foster is the first foreign President of the Cesar Awards since Marcello Mastroianni in 1993.
Bond girl,new Spider-Man among BAFTA nominees
Bond girl Gemma Arterton and the next Spider-Man Andrew Garfield are among the five nominees for the BAFTA rising star award,organisers said. Arterton,24,starred in 2008 Bond film Quantum Of Solace before taking on the lead role of Stephen Frears countryside comedy Tamara Drewe that released last year. She is up against Andrew Garfield,27,whose recent film credits include The Social Network,among the frontrunners for Oscars glory this year.
Garfield has also been named as the next Spider-Man,following in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire,who starred in the title role for three movies of the hugely successful franchise. The re-boot of the series is due to hit theatres in 2012. Aaron Johnson,most famous for his roles in the Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy and Kick Ass,is also one of the contenders. The award is decided by popular vote and announced at the main Orange British Academy Film Awards ceremony on February 13.
The BAFTAs are Britains top film honours and are closely watched as part of the international awards season culminating in the Oscars in late February. The final two rising star nominees are Tom Hardy and Emma Stone. Previous winners of the award include James McAvoy in 2006,Eva Green in 2007,Shia LaBeouf in 2008,Noel Clarke in 2009 and Kristen Stewart in 2010. BAFTA organisers have also announced the shortlist for best foreign film Biutiful,The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,I Am Love,Of Gods And Men and The Secret In Their Eyes.
