Seven days after her suspension,the Uttar Pradesh government Sunday issued a chargesheet to IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal. Editorial: Akhilesh govt has overstepped the line
The charges framed against her include demolition of an under-construction wall of a mosque in Kadalpur village of Gautam Budh Nagar on July 27 without following proper legal procedures. Another charge is that Nagpal did not show foresight while handling the case,which affected communal harmony of the area.

A senior officer said the government felt that the step taken by Nagpal was unnecessary and could have been avoided,coming as it did during Ramzan. The former SDM of Gautam Budh Nagar has been given 15 days to reply.
While the state government has cited the wall demolition as the reason for suspension,Nagpals crackdown against sand mafia is believed to have played a role.
Sonia tells PM to ensure fair treatment for SDM
A senior government officer said further action would be decided on the basis of Nagpals reply.
