Husband held for attempt to murder

The Wadi police have arrested one Jayesh Macwana,a resident of Dabhoi Road area,on the charge of attempt to murder his wife.

The arrest was made on Saturday night,five days after the incident occurred last Monday.

According to the details of the case,Macwana had forced his wife Kashmira (35) to consume poison following a quarrel that ensued after he accused her of infidelity.

The couple was on the terrace of their house when the fight started. When the woman tried to go away,Macwana forced her to consume poison, said an official at the Wadi police station.

Kashmira was later taken to the SSG Hospital where she remained in a critical condition. She regained consciousness on Saturday night.

Based on her statement,the police lodged a complaint against Macwana under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code,pertaining to attempt to murder,and arrested him.

The couple is married for 14 years and have two children,aged 13 and 9 years.
