Pulling up a litigant for changing his statements before the court,a judge of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday said they “are not recording machines.” Justice R C Chavan was hearing a petition filed by activist Indur Chhugani, which challenged the election of Congress MP Priya Dutt for the Mumbai North central constituency.
In the previous hearing,Chhugani had told the court that he had not seen the Election Commission’s CD which had the recording of the nomination process. However, the petitioner on Tuesday said that the court had recorded his statement wrongly and even though he said he had not seen the CD,he knew its contents.
Justice Chavan said,”Judges are not recording machines. A judge records what he understands to have been said.”
