Ganguly’s niece tests positve for swine flu,kin worry for Sana

“She is fine now but will have to stay in the hospital for 3-4 days,” Sneha’s father Snehashis Ganguly told

The Indian Express. “She had flu-like symptoms on August 15 and we took her to the ID Hospital for a swab test. The reports came this morning,” he added.

“Thankfully,things have been detected early and according to doctors she would be fine in a couple of days,” Snehashis said.

Sourav’s elder brother was also suffering from common cough and cold but is now doing fine.

The condition of Sneha,who has not travelled in the last few days,has created a panic among city schools and parents.

La Martiniere for Girls,where Sneha studies in Class V,seems to have a job at hand to wipe out the fear among its students.

“The disease is fast turning out to be a nightmare,” said Soma Ghosh,whose daughter is in Loreto Day School,Bowbazar.

For Gangulys,the main concern is to take proper care of Sourav’s eight-year-old daughter Sana.

“We are taking all precautionary measures and hopefully everything will be fine,” Snehashis said.

8 more test positive,admitted to hospital
Eight more persons tested positive for swine flu on Monday,taking the number of those affected to 47 in Kolkata.

The affected have been admitted to the isolation wards at Beliaghata ID Hospital and MR Bangur Hospital in the city.

While seven of those who tested positive on Monday are from Kolkata,one is a resident of Nadia. This is the first swine flu case from Nadia. On Sunday,three members of a family in North 24-Parganas’ Ashoknagar had tested positive and were quarantined at home.

Meanwhile,the condition of Akash Chowdhury,who was admitted to RG Kar Hospital last Wednesday,remained critical.

The health department made it clear it had not issued any directives to city schools to close down.

“We have issued certain dos and don’ts and they are being followed in schools. There has been no need to close the schools in the city,” said a senior health officer. ens
