After producing a variety of films like Maya Memsaab,O Darling Yeh Hai India,Mangal Pandey – The Rising,to name a few,Deepa Sahi has turned director with Tere Mere Phere.

She recently unveiled the films first look in Mumbai and was naturally quite excited about it. She exclaimed that she always wanted to be a director but landed up acting in films and producing them.

Ask her how does she feels about finally realising her dream and she says,Doosron ko nachaane main jo mazaa hai, khud naachne main nahin, just kidding! It was a great experience and only blessed people get to be involved in a job where you get an opportunity to use your sense of emotion, memory, imagination, aesthetics, sound, vision, music and colour. I am feeling extremely satisfied.

TMP is a comic take on marriage and focusses on the complicated lives of two couples, played by Vinay Pathak-Muskaan and newbies Jagrat Desai-Sasha Goradia. It is tentatively set to release in March.

The movie is mostly shot in the heartland of the Himalayas. Expressing her delight, the director says,Himachal Pradesh was a mixture of mind-boggling beauty and nerve-racking tension, just like a man-woman relationship, that forms the crux of the film! Shooting at 14,000 feet was awesome, when your skin is tingling with pin-pricks and it seems like your blood vessels are going to burst, and then you look at the work of the greatest art director,God,and you just want to forget everything and try to capture the glory.

Apart from TMP,Deepa also has her hands full. She is planning to revive the Nana Patekar-Hema Malini starrer Na Na Karte Pyar that was supposed to be her debut directorial venture. But the film got delayed due to the recession. Deepa says,I was all set to begin with the shoot in three weeks when the recession happened. Just as the rest, even I was hit by it and now the project is on hold. Im hoping to revive it at some point. I have scripted an action thriller set in Canada. But I have only finished the first draft,so I have not thought of casting as yet.

She adds that despite turning director, she will continue producing films. She says,My forthcoming projects as a producer include Haryana Roadways and Anup Jalotas My Beautiful Wife that is directed by Ketan Mehta.
