Bank of Baroda is planning to shift its data centre due to damage on the structure where its unit was operating in Mumbai. We have taken this initiative due to a technical problem which occurred all of sudden at our data centre at a building in Malad (a Mumbai suburb),which affected its operations in Mumbai and some other cities for nearly two hours. This inconvenience has cost our bank more than Rs 10 crore so far, said a top official of the bank. It’s learnt that data centre operations of another nationalised bank and a private sector bank, which were operating in the same building, also came to a standstill. However, they were soon rectified, banking sources said.
We have decided to shift our data centre from the Malad unit to our own building in the proximity of the corporate office situated at the Bandra-Kurla Complex, the official said.
KM Asawa, general manager,IT,Bank of Baroda, said,We have around 40 servers and whenever such a problem occurs,we shift the network to other servers.
