BHEL clocks 42 pct jump in Q4 profit

State-run power equipment maker BHEL today reported a rise of about 42 per cent in audited net profit.

State-run power equipment maker BHEL today reported a rise of about 42 per cent in audited net profit to Rs 1,909.58 for the fourth quarter ended March,2010,against Rs 1,347.47 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Total income of the Navratna firm rose to Rs 14,152.63 crore during the January-March quarter of FY’10 from Rs 11,047.24 crore in the same period a year ago,Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The country’s premier engineering firm has declared a final dividend of 123 per cent,or Rs 12.30,per share of Rs 10 face value for the year 2009-10.

For the full financial year ended March 31,BHEL posted a net profit of Rs 4,310.64 crore,up 37 per cent compared to Rs 3,138.21 crore in the previous fiscal.

The company’s audited financial results for FY’10 rose to Rs 34,396.67 crore from Rs 27,646.61 crore in the 2008-09 financial year.

Shares of BHEL were being quoted at Rs 2,254.90,down by 0.36 per cent,in late afternoon trade on the BSE.
