Australian stocks were little changed on Wednesday,spending most of the session in the red as uncertainty about the mining tax weighed on sentiment,but edging up at the close.
One trader said the early release of stronger-than-expected Chinese exports data may have helped towards the close.
Volumes were about 85 per cent of an average day.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 ended up 4.1 points or 0.1 per cent to 4,385.3 according to latest available data. The index gained 1.3 per cent on Tuesday.
New Zealand’s benchmark NZX 50 index rose 11.1 points to 3,000.1.
