The Delhi Police special cell alerted the Bihar DGP in October last year about a possible terror attack in Bodhgaya.
The Delhi Police letter,accessed by The Indian Express,was written by S N Shrivastava,Special Commissioner of Police (special cell) on October 10,2012 and was addressed to DGP Abhayanand.
The special cell informed the DGP about the arrest of three members of the Indian Mujahideen…responsible for the Pune serial blasts of 1 August 2012…during the interrogation of the accused,it is learnt that they planned to carry out fidayeen attack at the temples in Bodhgaya. The plan was initially discussed in the 3rd week of July,2012….
According to the special cell,alleged Indian Mujahideen operative Sayed Maqbool along with Asad and Imran,both arrested for the Pune blasts,had spoken about a plot to strike at the shrines in Bodhgaya. The interrogation report stated that for plotting the attack,Maqbool had also prepared 2-3 persons for the fidayeen attack at Bodhgaya.
The police said Maqbool told them he had met Asad,Irfan and Imran at Asads house in Aurangabad. The three were later arrested by the special cell. The plan had been discusssed in Aurangabad.
In July 2012,they discussed Muslims were being killed in Myanmar and they had to take revenge for them. They discussed the planning of fidayeen attack on Buddhist shrines at Bodhgaya,Bihar. Maqbool told them that he could prepare 2-3 persons for the fidayeen attack if they were ready to act on this planning.
According to Maqbools interrogation report,they were in active coordination with Riyaz Bhatkal. A month before Ramzan in 2012,Imran went to Hyderbad and met Maqbool. Imran asked Maqbool to help him in doing a recee of Hyderabad. Maqbool and Imran receed the following places in Hyderabad on a motorcycle Dilsukhnagar,Begum Bazar and Ibits Area, the report stated.
There was a blast at Dilsukhnagar in the first week of February this year. According to Maqbool,Imran was in direct touch with Riyaz.
