Milind Narvekar, Sena UBT secretary and a close aide of its president Uddhav Thackeray, was the most-talked about in Maharashtra political circles on Sunday, following talks that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is trying to woo him and field him from the Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha constituency against Sena UBT’s Amol Kirtikar.

Narvekar met Thackeray at Matoshree on Sunday afternoon but did not answer to queries on whether he was joining Shinde-led Sena. At a press conference, Uddhav, however, expressed confidence that Narvekar is not going anywhere.

‘Uddhav will top list of worthless’

A day after Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray referred to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as “worthless”, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Sunday hit back saying if a survey is held about the most “worthless” people in Maharashtra, the Thackeray would top the list.

The war of words ensued after the Sena UBT chief claimed that Fadnavis had told him that he would groom his son Aaditya Thackeray for chief ministerial position as part of the power-sharing agreement between their parties.

Ajit Pawar’s ‘war rukwa di’ moment

Ajit Pawar on Sunday had his “war rukwa di” moment from a famous advertisement of the BJP. Speaking at an event in Vidarbha’s Amravati, Pawar claimed, “When (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji realised that Indian students were stranded in Ukraine during the war, he called (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and got the war stopped till the flight carrying Indian students took-off. This is the greatness of Modiji,” he said. The amused crowd clapped in enthusiasm and Pawar asked them to vote in the name of Modiji.
