Kurukshetra Election Results 2024: BJP’s Naveen Jindal Industrialist won the Kurukshetra seat in Haryana by a margin of over 29,000 votes. His closest rival was AAP’s Dr Sushil Gupta, who managed to secure 5,13,154 votes.
The two-time MP had joined the BJP in March this year, ending his two decade long association with the Congress.
Kurukshetra, one of the 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in Haryana, historically a stronghold of the Congress party until 2014, witnessed a shift with the BJP’s Raj Kumar Saini victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, followed by Nayab Singh Saini of the BJP in 2019.
The present sitting MP from Kurukshetra, Nayab Singh Saini, who took over as Haryana’s Chief Minister in March, is now vying in the Karnal assembly by-polls on May 25.
Reflecting on the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nayab Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a victory in Kurukshetra, securing 688,629 votes, a substantial lead of 384,591 votes over his closest rival, Nirmal Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC), who garnered 304,038 votes.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as Kurukshetra went into the polls during the Phase 5 polling on May 25, it witnessed a triangular contest between Naveen Jindal of the BJP, Sushil Gupta of the AAP representing the INDIA alliance, and INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala, from the influential Chautala family.
However, the voter turnout in Kurukshetra for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections stood at 64.38%, marking a notable decrease from the 74.32% turnout recorded in 2019.
With the results slated for announcement on June 4, the India Today-Axis My India Poll has forecasted a probable victory for Naveen Jindal in the Kurukshetra constituency in Haryana.
