Chhindwara Election Results 2024: Bunty Vivek Sahu of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat, defeating Nakul Nath of the Congress and shattering the family’s long-standing political legacy and stronghold in the region.
Sahu maintained a strong lead throughout the day and ultimately secured 6,44,738 votes, while Nath managed to garner 5,31,120 votes. The margin of victory was 1,13,618 votes, marking a significant political shift in Madhya Pradesh’s constituency of Chhindwara.
Chhindwara was a fierce contest where the BJP’s district president Sahu took on incumbent Nath, the son of ex-chief minister Kamal Nath. The Chhindwara constituency has been Congress veteran and nine-time MP Kamal Nath’s stronghold for more than four decades.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP bagged 28 seats in the state but missed out on picking Chhindwara again, where Nakul won with a margin of 37,536 votes. Sahu had first clashed with Nath in Chhindwara in the 2019 by-poll after the latter took over as the CM, losing by 25,837 votes.
Sahu began his career in the BJP as the state president of the party’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in 2011. He has been a “strong organiser” who helped mobilise several thousand youngsters to attend the events of former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other senior BJP leaders, which led to his elevation within the party.
