Mathura Lok Sabha constituency: Ahead of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, Hema Malini, sitting BJP MP of Mathura, is looking to secure a hattrick and will be contesting against Congress's new candidate, Mukesh Dhangar and BSP's new candidate Suresh Singh.

Mathura Lok Sabha constituency: Located in the largest constituency of Uttar Pradesh, Mathura Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 80 seats in the state. This constituency is composed of five assembly segments within the Mathura district and has been a stronghold of the BJP in recent years, with the party winning the seat in the 2014 and 2019 elections. In both elections, Hema Malini from the BJP emerged victorious against notable opponents from the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Samajwadi Party (SP). 

The Mathura Lok Sabha constituency is set to hold elections on April 26, 2024, during Phase 2 of the voting schedule. In this election, Hema Malini from the BJP will face competition from Mukesh Dhangar of the Congress party and Suresh Singh of the BSP. This electoral contest promises to be a significant event in the region, with the electorate playing a crucial role in determining the political outcome.

A renowned Indian actress, director, producer, and politician, Hema Malini currently serves as a member of the Lok Sabha from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), representing the Mathura constituency since 2014.

From being a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha in March 2010 to BJP general secretary, Hema Malini transitioned to electoral politics in 2014 when she contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Mathura constituency and emerged victorious against Jayant Chaudhary of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) by a substantial margin of 3,30,743 votes.

Similarly, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Hema Malini of the BJP emerged victorious, securing 60.88% of the votes against the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate, Kunwar Narendra Singh, who received 34.26% of the votes, and the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate, Mahesh Pathak, who received 2.55% of the votes.

Mukesh Dhangar is the Congress candidate contesting against Hema Malini from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Mathura Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Dhangar is a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and serves as the state president of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), who have decided to form an alliance with anyone and opted to go solo in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has fielded the former IRS officer Suresh Singh as their Lok Sabha candidate from Lok Sabha candidate, who is having his first attempt at mainstream politics. Notably, the fact that Suresh Singh was also involved with RSS in his early makes his candidature even more interesting for the people of Mathura, who will have to witness a close three-way contest from their constituency.
