The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 26 with voters in 89 parliamentary constituencies across 13 states casting their ballot to elect the new government.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar announced on March 16 that the 18th Lok Sabha elections will be held in 7 phases, between April 19 and June 1, involving close to 97 crore voters. The results will be declared on June 4, twelve days before the term of the current House expires.
For the Lok Sabha polls, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar will have the longest voting schedule across seven phases. This is followed by Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir in five phases; Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha in four phases; Assam and Chhattisgarh in three phases; and, Karnataka, Manipur, Rajasthan and Tripura in two phases. The remaining states and Union Territories will go to poll on a single day.
The first phase on April 19 will cover 102 constituencies across 21 states. The second phase is scheduled for April 26 covering 89 constituencies in 13 states, followed by May 7 seats in 94 states on 12 states. In the fourth phase, 96 seats in 10 states will vote on May 13. The fifth phase will take place with 49 seats in 8 states on May 20, the sixth in 57 seats across 7 states on May 25, and the seventh in 57 seats across 8 states on June 1.
