World Mental Health Day 2025 Date, Theme, History: More than a billion people are living with mental health disorders, according to new data released by the World Health Organisation (WHO). World Mental Health Day is marked on October 10 every year to raise awareness about mental health concerns while mobilising support for its well-being. It also provides a platform for stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work and take action for mental health care for people globally. The World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health group with members and links in over 150 countries, initiated the first World Mental Health Day on October 10, 1992. There is an urgent need to prioritise mental health support for individuals and communities affected by crises such as wars, natural disasters, and forced displacement.
