Billionaires Michael and Susan Dell have pledged $6.25 billion to encourage 25 million American children under 10 to activate the new Trump Accounts, investment accounts created under President Donald Trump’s tax and spending package.
Announced on GivingTuesday, the Dells’ contribution is being described as the largest private donation ever directed at US children.
Michael Dell is the chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, a company he founded in 1984 with just $1,000 at age 19. By 1992, he became the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company. He later took Dell private in 2013 and oversaw the landmark merger of Dell, EMC, and VMware in 2016, before relisting the firm in 2018.
In 1998, he founded MSD Capital (now DFO Management), the Dell family’s private investment firm. A year later, he and Susan established the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, which works globally to improve education and economic mobility.

Michael sits on several global boards and councils, including the World Economic Forum’s Foundation Board, the International Business Council, the Technology CEO Council, and advisory boards in China and India. He has authored Direct from Dell and Play Nice But Win.
Net worth: According to Forbes, Michael Dell is the 10th richest person in the world, with a net worth of $148.5 billion (as of December 2, 2025), much of it held through DFO Management.
Susan Dell is the co-founder and chair of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, where she has shaped strategy and global expansion for more than 25 years. Outside philanthropy, she is a fashion entrepreneur, having launched three labels — including the luxury brand Phi — and an accomplished athlete who has competed in elite marathons, triathlons, and the Ironman World Championship in Kona.
She has also served on President George W. Bush’s Council for Physical Fitness and Sports, is a life trustee of the Dell Children’s Foundation, and a former board member of the Cooper Institute. Her contributions to public service earned her a place in the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame. In 2025, she and Michael were honoured with the History-Making Texan Award.
