Bangladeshi actor Sohana Saba was brought in for questioning by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Thursday night. The police has has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the allegations against Saba.
Sohana Saba is a prominent figure in the national entertainment industry who made her debut with ‘Ayna’ in 2006. She went on to win the the Best Actress recognition at the Jaipur International Film Festival for her role in the 2015 feature film ‘Brihonnola’.
Saba was previously married to Bangladeshi director Murad Parvez. They worked together in many projects including Brihonnola. They announced their separation in 2016.
Saba’s development follows the detention of actor and director Meher Afroz Shaon earlier in the evening from her Dhanmondi residence.
Her detention is related to allegations of conspiring against the state, according to DB chief Rezaul Karim Mallick.
Shaon is currently being questioned at the DB office on Mintoo Road over her recent political comments and stance which sparked considerable debate on social media and other platforms.
Her ancestral home in Jamalpur, belonging to her father Mohammad Ali, was also set ablaze by protesters near Narundi Railway Station. was torched around 6pm near Narundi Railway Station in Jamalpur Sadar upazila.
Shaon is recognized for her acting, directing, and playback singing.
