A mass shootout took place at the Pennsylvania campus of Lincoln University during Homecoming weekend on Saturday night. One person was killed and six more were wounded where gunfire erupted during outdoor festivities as students and alumni celebrated homecoming at the historically Black school as per Associated Press.

A person who had a firearm was detained, and officials are investigating the possibility that there was more than one shooter but don’t believe there is any active threat to the campus, Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said during a brief news conference early Sunday.

In a post on X, the Chester County District Attorney’s Office said that they are aware of a shooting at Lincoln University with multiple victims. “Law enforcement has responded to the scene and are actively investigating. Please avoid the area at this time,” the post added.
