Philippines earthquake: Magnitude 5.3 quake jolts Mindanao

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off Mindanao in the Philippines on Tuesday, Reuters reported, citing the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.

The quake’s epicentre was recorded at a depth of 10 km, located at 6.31°N latitude and 126.29°E longitude.

The earthquake comes just a month after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit offshore in the southern Philippines, triggering tsunami warnings and prompting coastal evacuations, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) had said.
