Nick Reiner’s attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client will not be in court on Tuesday for medical reasons. Jackson told reporters outside the courthouse that he did not know what the medical issue was, but he said Reiner will not appear before Wednesday.
Jackson is a high-profile lawyer who represented Harvey Weinstein at his Los Angeles trial and Karen Read at her trial in Massachusetts. He was a central figure in the HBO documentary on the Read case.
The 32-year-old younger son of Rob and Michele Reiner was arrested on Sunday and charged with the murder of his parents on Monday. He is being held in jail without bail.

Investigators believe Rob and Michele Singer Reiner died from stab wounds, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.
The official, who was briefed on the investigation, could not publicly discuss the details and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.
Nick Reiner, who had struggled with substance abuse, has spoken openly about his battles with drug addiction and periods of homelessness that occurred when he refused to seek treatment.
In a 2016 interview, he told People magazine that he first entered rehab for drug abuse at age 15. He eventually had at least 17 stays in facilities.
The Los Angeles Police Department said its investigation “determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide” and their son “was responsible for their deaths.”

The Los Angeles Times and celebrity news website TMZ said the couple’s daughter was the first to find her parents.
Local media reported that Nick Reiner had been spotted arguing with his parents on Saturday night at a holiday party hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien.
