Israeli airstrike targets residential building in Syria’s Damascus

In a nine-minute video released by the Israeli military which captured the purported airstrike, it showed an explosion at the edge of a building followed by thick plumes of smoke.

In a reported air strike by the Israeli forces on the Syrian capital Damascus on Thursday, the Tel Aviv led forces said that they attacked a Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad controlled command centre, which it said was used to direct ‘terrorist activities’ against Israel.

In a nine-minute video released by the Israeli military which captured the purported airstrike, it showed an explosion at the edge of a building followed by thick plumes of smoke.

The Israeli forces said that the command centre, reportedly controlled by Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad, devised plans to conduct “terrorist activities” by Islamic Jihad against Israel.

However, Islamic Jihad spokesperson Muhammad al-Haj Musa denied the allegations levelled by the Israeli military that the building attacked by the forces, was a command centre of Palestinian group.

According to sources quoted by Reuters, the target of the Israeli military was a person who belonged to Palestine. After the attack on the building, it was not immediately known how many casualties had occurred.

According to the local news agency of Syria, the building was located at the edge of Damascus.

In a statement, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said “Whenever terrorist activity is organized against Israel, Syria’s new President Ahmad al-Sharaa will find air force planes circling above him and attacking terrorist targets.”
