Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday welcomed what he described as “decisive progress” in the peace efforts in Gaza, praising the leadership of US President Donald Trump. In a post on X, Modi referred to signs that Hamas may release hostages, calling it a “significant step forward” and adding that India would “continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace.” This comes as Trump ordered Israel on Friday to immediately stop the bombing of Gaza after Hamas said it had accepted parts of his 20-point plan to end the nearly two-year war. He wrote on Truth Social that he believes they are “ready for a lasting PEACE,” stressing that hostages needed to be released safely. “Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly!” We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress.
