Denmark’s armed forces said on Saturday that unidentified drones were seen overnight near several of its military installations, days after drone activity disrupted airports and other key sites. “The Danish Defence can confirm that drones were observed at several of the Danish Defence’s locations last night. Several capabilities were deployed,” a spokesperson said in an email to Reuters. The statement did not say where the drones were spotted. Danish police told local media that drones were seen near Karup air base in western Denmark, according to Ritzau news agency. Norway also reported drone activity. A spokesperson for the Norwegian Armed Forces’ joint headquarters told Reuters that guards at Orland air base, the country’s main site for F-35 fighter jets, “made several observations outside the base’s perimeter early on Saturday.” On Monday, Copenhagen Airport, the busiest in the Nordic region, was closed for several hours after large drones entered its airspace. Five smaller airports, both civilian and military, were also shut temporarily during the week. Danish officials have described the incidents as hybrid attacks. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said earlier this week that it was “the most serious attack on Danish critical infrastructure to date,” according to Reuters.
