Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Qatar against continuing to host the leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the country. Netanyahu urged Qatar to either expel Hamas leaders or bring them to justice, “because if you don’t, we will.”

‘October 7 was Israel’s 9/11’

In a video posted on social media, a day before the 9/11 anniversary, Netanyahu compared the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack in Israel to the worst terror attack in US  history.

“We also have a September 11th. We remember October 7th. On that day, Islamist terrorists committed the worst savagery against the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” he said.

‘Israel doing what US did after 9/11’

“What did America do in the wake of September 11th?. It promised to hunt down the terrorists who committed this heinous crime, wherever they may be,” Netanyahu said.

“So we did exactly what America did when it went after the al-Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan and after they went and killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan,” he continued.

Airstrike on Hamas in Doha

Netanyahu’s fiery comments come a day after Israel launched an unprecedented airstrike in Doha, targeting the top leadership of Hamas, while they were meeting to discuss a new ceasefire deal proposed by the US.

‘IDF’s long arm will reach enemies’

Al-Thani, who said he believes Israel hasn’t been genuinely negotiating, also accused Netanyahu of dragging the Middle East to “chaos” and of “wasting” Qatar’s time.

Following the airstrike on Tuesday, Qatar had suspended its mediation for a Gaza ceasefire and the release of the Israeli hostages.
