Barbara Mikulski has been re-elected to a fifth term to represent Maryland in the U.S. Senate.

An Associated Press analysis of exit polling data shows the 74-year-old Baltimore resident defeating Republican Eric Wargotz, who is a commissioner in Queen Anne’s County.

Mikulski campaigned on her record of bringing home taxpayer dollars, constituent service and leadership on women’s rights.

She’s been lukewarm on President Barack Obama. She says he’s done a “credible” job but calls herself an independent who won’t be a rubber stamp for the administration. Mikulski says she disagreed with an administration proposal for oil and natural gas drilling off the Maryland coast.
