Safe, a US-based company specialising in high-security design, is set to launch ‘Aerie’, a $300 million underground bunker complex, in 2026. Designed to provide both protection and luxury, Aerie will serve as a fortified sanctuary for high-net-worth individuals, featuring cutting-edge technology, AI-powered medical facilities, and wellness amenities.

The first Aerie location will open in Virginia, near Washington, DC, and will form part of a planned global network of 1,000 secure locations. Each facility will offer members highly customisable underground residences, ranging from 2,000-square-foot suites to multi-level penthouses, with price tags reaching up to $20 million.

According to Safe’s founder and president, Al Corbi, Aerie was created to address a specific gap in personal security. “We created Aerie to help vulnerable clients when they leave their fortified homes or yachts,” he said. “Aerie’s impenetrable residences include SCIF-compliant (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities) environments for ultimate privacy and security. Each facility features AI-powered medical suites, gourmet dining, and wellness programs, which will blend protection and luxury.”

The Aerie facilities are primarily underground, with a single rooftop penthouse visible above ground for exclusivity. Interactive walls and lighting systems simulate outdoor environments, creating the illusion of above-ground living while residents remain in a highly secure setting.

The bunkers will include robust safety measures such as blast-resistant walls, biometric authentication, and tactical mantraps. Corbi explained that Aerie is designed to provide consistent protection, even when clients are away from their estates or yachts.

“When something terrible happens, they can use one of the bunkers and facilities in the city they find themselves in,” Corbi said.

Medical and wellness facilities

Aerie’s facilities will include advanced medical services integrated with AI technology. Naomi Corbi, Director of Medical Preparedness at Safe, said, “The wealthy are becoming more interested in wellness and longevity offerings as part of their fortified residences. Aerie will utilize advanced AI-integrated medical care, connecting members to specialists around the clock.”

Each location will feature MediShield-equipped medical suites capable of providing life-saving critical care, as well as other health-focused amenities:

  • Hyperbaric chambers to improve cellular health.
  • Ice plunge rooms for immune function and stress reduction.
  • IV therapy rooms for hydration and recovery.
  • AI-powered massage rooms to reduce tension and improve circulation.

These facilities are designed for physical and mental well-being for extended periods underground.

Al Corbi emphasised the importance of preparedness. “Imagine a massive solar flare annihilating the global grid, plunging the world into chaos. Within hours, supply chains collapse, society unravels, and civil unrest erupts,” Corbi said. “This isn’t fiction—it’s a likely reality.”
