
The Government of India introduced the Bharat Series number plates, also known as the BH number plates, to bring uniformity to the vehicle registration process across the country. Notably, the owners possessing vehicles don’t have the obligation to transfer their vehicle registration if they relocate from one state to another.
Launched in 2021 by the Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways (MoRTH), BH number plates’ primary purpose behind the establishment of this number plate is to simplify and streamline the vehicle registration process for work professionals who keep relocating for work commitments.
Notably, the road tax for BH plates is valid for 14 years; The tax structure is 8% for automobiles under Rs 10 lakh, 10% for cars between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, and 12% for cars beyond Rs 20 lakh.
