Video: Old video of a fan asking Steffi Graf to marry him goes viral

Sportspeople and musicians have a lot in common. Cult status, of course, but public marriage proposals and love declarations too. And what these result in are memories for a lifetime — both for the audience, and most likely for the players as well. All of which are now immortalised on the World Wide Web. Remember the lovely girl who held up a card for Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan?

Well, one such moment was shared by the Wimbledon’s official Facebook page on May 5, which fans can’t get over. The video is from 1995 when ace Tennis player Steffi Graf was proposed for marriage on the court. The video has gone viral with over 1.9 million views.

Graf was about to serve when a man from the stands yelled “Steffi, will you marry me?”

She smiled and her answer will make you smile too.

Steffi has won 107 singles titles in her career. She has also won four Australian Open, six French Open, seven Wimbledon and five US Open titles. We wonder if Graf ever got a chance to find out the guy’s bank balance, after all.
