On Wednesday, a Zomato delivery agent named Rahat Ali Khan won widespread praise for his dedication to the job. He delivered orders on foot after his bike broke down amid relentless downpour in Mumbai. As the city grappled with heavy rainfall, severe waterlogging, and traffic jams on Wednesday, Khan pushed through these challenges to do his job. Khan completed two deliveries on foot after his bike broke down. Zomato customer Swati Mittal expressed her gratitude for Khan's efforts on social media platform Threads. She wrote, “We ordered food and Rahat’s bike broke down and that man walked to two different locations and finished his delivery in this heavy rain all drenched!” Appreciating Khan’s dedication and recognising her own privilege, Mittal added: “We should really support delivery staff who are on the streets in heavy rains making our lives convenient. It’s a privilege! Thank you Rahat!” Click on the link to see the full thread. While some users applauded Swati for drawing attention to the Zomato delivery partner’s commitment, others questioned her decision to order food during such heavy rain, also inquiring if she had given the agent a tip. One user wrote, “The internet NEEDS more people like you Swati who take the time and share incidents like these on social media. This is so much more refreshing than seeing, "where's my food?", "where's my refund?" type posts! Keep Going Keep Growing.” Another user commented, “I'd think 10 times before ordering something in such torrential rains.” In response to a question about tipping the Zomato delivery executive, Mittal clarified: "Absolutely. Goes without saying." She explained that she chose not to publicise her actions, adding, "Just didn’t advertise what I did for him. It was just a thank you post of gratefulness for his effort."
