UPSC third topper Donuru Ananya Reddy calls Virat Kohli her inspiration, internet reacts

A video of Donuru Ananya Reddy, a geology graduate from Delhi University’s Miranda House, expressing her admiration for cricketer Virat Kohli is grabbing eyeballs.

Donuru Ananya Reddy, 22, has secured third rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2023. Among several videos of UPSC toppers on social media, a video of Reddy expressing her admiration for Virat Kohli is grabbing eyeballs.

“Virat Kohli, he is my favourite player, and I think there is a kind of inspiration and the never-give-up kind of attitude he has,” a jubilant Ananya told reporters, after the results were announced on Tuesday.

“Irrespective of results we must work and strive for our goals,” she adds.

The video amassed over 1,65,000 views, prompting reactions from social media users. “Queen for a reason,” a user commented. “Kohli is an idol of every intelligent person,” another user wrote.

“King Kohli range,” the third user reacted.

An alumnus of Delhi University’s Miranda House, Reddy graduated with a BA (Honours) in geology from Delhi University’s Miranda House. After graduating in 2021, she started preparing for the UPSC examinations in Hyderabad. She cracked the examinations in her first attempt.

“Right from my childhood, I had this idea in my mind. I was introduced to the UPSC by my grandfather. So I always had that seed in me. When I started looking for career opportunities after completing my graduation, I realised that civil services will provide me a very unique blend—I can serve my country and I will also have the opportunity of having administrative duties. This blend attracted me towards the UPSC,” she told indianexpress.com.

Aditya Srivastava, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, topped the UPSC Civil Services 2023 exam while Odisha native Animesh Pradhan, currently employed with the Indian Oil Corporation, has scored the second rank.
