‘I love that I’m literally wearing my record’: UK dad gets 667 tattoos of daughter’s name, makes world record

People often get tattoos of their loved one’s names on themselves. Now, a British man has taken this norm one step further as he got 667 tattoos of his daughter’s name.

In 2017, Mark Owen Evans, got his daughter Lucy’s name tattooed on his back 267 times. At the time he got the Guinness World Record for “most tattoos of the same name on the body”. As per the Guinness World Records, Evans attempted this record to “celebrate Lucy’s birth, as well as to raise funds for the hospital which provided care for her in the following months”.

However, in 2020, Diedra Vigil, a 27-year-old from USA, broke the record by having her own name tattooed on herself 300 times.

Evans then decided to “reclaim” his former record and subsequently got 400 more tattoos that said “Lucy”, making it a total of 667 tattoos.

It took two tattoo artists over five and a half hours to make the 400 tattoos.

While talking to The Sun, Evans said, “It felt weird – because there were two tattooists doing it at the same time, the pain was kind of cancelled out”. He added, “I love that I’m literally wearing my record and it goes everywhere with me.”

Another interesting world record related to tattoos was accomplished by Rick Scolamiero from Canada and Ryan Logsdon from the USA. Both Scolamiero and Logsdon have 34 Marvel-related tattoos covering their whole bodies. They jointly hold the record for “the most Marvel comic book characters tattooed onto the body”.
