The latest culinary experiment on the Indian street food scene is the ‘Waffle Bhel’. In a departure from the traditional ingredients of puffed rice, spices, and chickpeas, a vendor in Surat has dished out a unique concoction of waffles with generous amounts of syrup, chocolate sauce, sprinkles etc
What makes the dish stand out is the presentation of what sounds like a familiar dessert – the waffle is served chopped into pieces, mirroring the iconic style of bhel or papri chaat plates. The waffle pieces are then coated with two types of chocolate syrup, sprinkles, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate chips.
This creative take on waffles has captured the attention of food enthusiasts.

Netizens on social media platforms have shared their opinions with some adding a touch of humour. One user remarked, “You forgot to add extra honey and sugar on top,” while another questioned, “Why didn’t she add some sugar syrup to it? This looks incomplete.” A third commenter said, “The first bite will taste like heaven, and the second will take you there.”
Jokes apart, for foodies eager to embark on a sweet adventure, the Waffle Bhel awaits.
