To clear important exams students use various ways to cheat. However, in a worrying post, an IPS officer shared that students are also trying to bribe the paper checkers.
Indian Police Service officer Arun Bothra (@arunbothra) shared a photograph of a bunch of currency notes sent to him by a teacher. “These notes were kept inside answer sheets of a board exam by students with request to give them passing marks. Tells a lot about our students, teachers and the entire educational system,” posted Bothra.
This post prompted many people to express concern over the state of ethics and education in India.
Commenting on Bothra’s post, an X user wrote, “These students see so much news of bribery in media, about repeat offenders & stories how “cash” works in so many Govt. Offices…..! Stories of how work gets done in exchange of cash……etc. This creates confidence in the system of bribery & its effectiveness ! So tried”.

Another person wrote, “It’s not directly related to the education system. Most of them are either girls or students from remote areas who simply want to complete their schooling. The fact is, they don’t see a future through this education, though.”
Many people shared similar instances where students kept money inside answer sheets.
A former teacher recalled, “This has happened to me at least thrice during my paper correction days! To colleagues too even 20 years ago. The money is usually accompanied by a sad story narration instead of answers to exam questions. Needless to say, such students usually fail.”
