India is a land of many languages and cultures. However, there are certain songs that break language barriers and sound fabulous no matter in which language you hear them. A Sikh man, who sang the chartbuster ‘Kesariya’ that was part of the film Brahmastra in many different languages such as Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi, has left the internet impressed and even industrialist Anand Mahindra has taken notice.
Mahindra retweeted a video that was posted by a Twitter user, Satbir Singh, Friday. “Just beautiful. This is what an UNBREAKABLE, united India sounds like…” Mahindra wrote in the tweet. The singer in the video has been identified as Snehdeep Singh Kalsi. He had posted the video on his Instagram account in July last year.
In the caption that he posted on Instagram, Kalsi said that he ended up covering the song in all five languages. He dedicated the song to his friends and ex-colleagues from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad who had been asking him for a regional song’s cover.
Reacting to Mahindra sharing his video on Twitter, Kalsi wrote, “Thank you so much sir ! This means a lot coming from you.”
“This qualifies to become our twitter national anthem Anandji,” a Twitter user posted. “Goosebumps from first second of hearing,” said another. “Emotionally moving…I understand all these languages, so even more touching, love unifies all languages, just we need to need open our hearts, deep it is,” appreciated another netizen.
In January this year, a singer named Kush, who goes by the Instagram username @himhansmusic, had also gone viral for his beautiful rendition of the song Kesariya in five different languages.
