Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's reply to a student who asked him to teach him a new word is going viral. The Thiruvananthapuram MP tweeted a video Monday in which a student asks Tharoor to teach him a new word given the former diplomat's reputation as "a fount of exotic vocabulary". Tharoor had a one word suggestion: "Read". Take a look at the video here: My reply to a student who asked me to give him a new word in view of my reputation as a fount of exotic vocabulary: pic.twitter.com/I6mr9DOX6m — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) November 11, 2019 In the video, Tharoor - who is known for his way with words - said that it was extensive reading that gave him his vocabulary. He pointed out that despite what people may think, he barely refers to a dictionary. Tharoor said that reading extensively helps understand a word, and its usage. "All I had was books, books were my escape, books were my education," he said. The MP also said that he had asthma growing up, and reading was the only respite from spending time indoors.
