Weddings in India are grand with multi-day rituals and colourful celebrations. With the country’s rich cultural diversity, each region and community brings its own distinct customs. A couple recently celebrated their diverse regional backgrounds by making their wedding invitation a tribute to unity, calling it a “Bharat Jodo Vivah.” The theme was inspired by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide march Bharat Jodo Yatra, to bring together different cultures and communities.

The couple, Abhilasha Kotwal and Vinal William, beautifully showcased their diverse regional backgrounds in the wedding invite. Abhilasha hails from Jammu and Bengal, and Vinal has roots in Punjab and Kerala. The bride is lovingly called the “daughter of Jammu and Bengal,” while the groom is celebrated as the “son of Punjab and Kerala,” in the card.

Sharing the wedding invitation card, the bride Abhilasha Kotwal wrote, “When your wedding is more diverse than a coalition government, you know it’s truly special! @RahulGandhi @priyankagandhi — our love story embodies the values you champion. Would be honored to have your blessings!”

Abhilasha went a step further by inviting two Congress leaders to their wedding. Years ago, her mother had designed Priyanka Gandhi’s wedding invitation, creating a unique bond between the families. Abhilasha personally hand-delivered an invitation to the residences of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

“Just dropped the #BharatJodoVivah invite to @RahulGandhi & @priyankagandhi ‘s residence. Got to know, years ago my mom designed & printed @priyankagandhi‘s wedding invite. It would be an honour to recommend your blessings,” she added.
