Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has surged to the top of Google trends following the announcement of the return of his iconic superhero character, Shaktimaan. Khanna, who became synonymous with the role in the late 1990s, expressed his excitement about bringing the beloved character back to life in a new avatar.
Within 14 hours of the news breaking, the topic garnered more than 20,000 searches, with interest in the keyword spiking by over 1,000 percent. In an interview with ANI, Khanna shared his thoughts on why Shaktimaan’s return is significant, stating, “The journey I started in 1997, which carried on until 2005, is not over yet. Today’s generation is moving too fast, and they need to be reminded to slow down and reflect. Shaktimaan’s message is more important now than ever.”
Khanna also took to social media over the weekend to release a teaser poster and video for the show’s revival. The teaser features Shaktimaan soaring through the sky and landing in a school, singing a patriotic tune while paying homage to Indian freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Subhash Chandra Bose.
First airing in 1997 on Doordarshan, Shaktimaan became a cultural phenomenon and one of India’s most popular superhero shows, running for over 450 episodes. Its return is expected to rekindle nostalgia for fans and introduce the iconic character to a new generation.
