A unique wedding invitation card from Pune in the backdrop of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 has emerged on social media, triggering a chatter among users. Shared by a Reddit handle r/unitedstatesofindia, the invitation card encouraged citizens to exercise their voting rights. “As per the rights given by the Constitution, and to take one step forward in making our country prosper, we must send our voice to the Parliament and for this, each vote is important,” reads the invitation card in Marathi. According to the invitation, ‘democracy’ and ‘voters’ are getting married to each other. The wedding venue on the card was listed as ‘your polling station.’ Take a look here: Reacting to it, a user wrote, “Some countries like australia have fines if you dont vote, you can even vote for NOTA but you have to vote.” Another user commented, “Don't need common sense to be printed on wedding cards.” “Plot twist: Lokshahi is already cheating on the the groom,” the third user joked. For the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar will have the longest voting schedules in seven phases. This will be followed by Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir in five phases; Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha in four phases; Assam and Chhattisgarh in three phases; and, Karnataka, Manipur, Rajasthan and Tripura in two phases. The remaining states and Union Territories will vote on a single day. The first phase of elections on April 19 covers the maximum number of states — 102 constituencies across 21 states. The second phase on April 26 will cover 89 constituencies across 13 states. The third phase is scheduled for May 7, covering 94 constituencies in 12 states and 96 seats in 10 states on May 13. In the fifth phase, 49 seats in eight states will vote on May 20. The sixth phase will occur in 57 seats in seven states on May 25 and the seventh phase in 57 seats across eight states on June 1. The results would be announced on June 4.
