The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha election 2024 began on Tuesday at 8 am. As the counting process is underway, a video of halwais preparing poori and sweets at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in New Delhi is doing the rounds on social media.

Several halwais can be seen rolling pooris and tossing them into hot oil to fry them. As the video progresses, the halwai spreads the fluffy pooris in giant containers. The video also shows a few containers filled with boondi and other sweets being prepared.

Sharing the video on X, ANI wrote, “Poori and sweets being prepared at the BJP headquarters in Delhi ahead of the Lok Sabha election results. Vote counting for #LokSabhaElections to begin at 8 am.”

The video garnered over 1,76,000 views as social media users flocked to the comment section. Reacting to it, a user commented, “Seems like they’re very certain about their win.” Another user wrote, “A bit premature, they could’ve waited for the formal announcement!”

“Poori sabji and sweet/ jalebi is a common breakfast of many Indian regions,” a third user wrote.

Exit polls have predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will return to power with a historic third consecutive term with more than 400 seats. Narendra Modi will become the first Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to win three straight terms, if the NDA wins the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The early trends on the counting day, however, showed the Congress-led INDIA bloc leading in over 200 constituencies, exceeding exit poll predictions.

In the 2019 elections, NDA secured a total of 353 seats, with BJP alone winning 303 seats, while the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) had to settle down with just 91 seats.
