Experience the grandeur and history of Kolkata’s iconic Victoria Memorial like never before with its enchanting light and sound show that runs from October to February. It brings the rich heritage of the city to life against the majestic backdrop of the Victoria Memorial.
On December 19, in a dazzling display of vibrant colours and football fervour, Victoria Memorial took centre stage during a spectacular show that marked the Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal Derby celebration.
The much-watched matches between the two rival football clubs, however, has been somewhat overshadowed by the emergence of the Indian Super League (ISL).
On the day, Victoria Memorial underwent a breath-taking transformation into a canvas of passion, draped in the distinct hues of red and yellow for East Bengal and green and maroon for Mohun Bagan.
The monumental structure embraced the spirit of the football rivalry, becoming a beacon of celebration for the Ghotis supporting Mohun Bagan and the Bangals rallying behind East Bengal.
The radiant display, captured in the vibrant colours of the rival teams, stood as a testament to the significance of the Derby in the hearts of Bengalis.
The Bengali version of the light and sound show takes place from 6.15 pm to 7 pm, while the English version commences from 7.15 pm to 8 pm, providing an equally compelling experience for both local and international visitors.
The show takes a temporary hiatus during the monsoon months of July to September.
