After the hard work of 41 days, Arnav Daga from Kolkata finally finished the construction of the world’s largest playing card structure. Daga, used around 1,43,000 playing cards, with no help from tape or glue, to build a card structure that measures 12.21 m (40 ft) in length, 3.47 m (11 ft 4 in) in height, and 5.08 m (16 ft 8 in) in width. His elaborate structure was based on four famous buildings from his home city, namely: the Writers’ Building, the Shaheed Minar, Salt Lake Stadium, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Before he started building the card structure in a “tall, airtight space with a flat floor”, he visited all four sites to closely study their architecture. Talking about this improvisation, the 15-year-old told Guinness World Records, “It was frustrating that so many hours and days of work got wiped out and I had to do it all over again, but for me, there was no turning back. At times you have to decide on the spot if an alteration or change of approach is required. Making such a huge project was very new to me.” Daga got into card stacking when he was just eight years old. During the Covid-induced lockdown, he got an opportunity to focus more on card stacking, which ultimately prompted him to attempt the world record.
