Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s convoy met with a collision on Monday evening at the Vamanapuram Park junction in the state’s Thiruvananthapuram district. The incident occurred when Vijayan was travelling back to Thiruvananthapuram from Kottayam.

According to news agency PTI, CM Vijayan’s SUV was escorted by five vehicles and an ambulance. The video on the incident, which is now doing rounds on the internet, shows one of the vehicles in the convoy trying to avoid ramming into a woman on a scooter trying to cross the road. This led to multiple collisions when the pilot car stopped suddenly to avoid the two-wheeler. Security personnel immediately exited their vehicles to ensure the chief minister’s well-being. Medical staff from the ambulance also rushed to the scene.

The chief minister’s vehicle only sustained minor damage and escaped unharmed in the accident, NDTV reported.
