Indian musician sings patriotic songs on London streets on Independence Day; Indians, Pakistanis join him

As India celebrated its 77th Independence Day Tuesday, a street musician from India marked the occasion on the streets of London by singing patriotic songs like ‘Teri Mitti’, ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ and ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ in front of a huge crowd comprising people from India and Pakistan who also joined him.

“I asked Indians & Pakistanis to join me at Piccadilly Circus in London & this is what happened,” Vish captioned the video.

Netizens were amazed by the energy of the crowd and praised him for bringing people of the two countries together.

“This is so amazing. Absolute goosebumps. Happy Independence day!” commented a user. “Divided by Britishers, United in BRITIAN,” said another. “It’s my first Independence day away from home! Happy Independence day guys!” another person shared. “Celebrating in the city, of the people, who stole our independence, in the first place,” wrote another netizen.

Recently, Grammy Award-winning music composer Ricky Kej conducted a 100-piece British orchestra to the tune of India’s national anthem at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. Kej claimed this was the largest orchestra ever to record India’s national anthem. Kej took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a 1:02-minutes-long video of the mesmerising rendition of the national anthem.
